FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chambersburg (August 30) - The Franklin County Coalition announced
today that it has added the South-Central Farmers' Market Association
(SCFMA) as its newest organizational member. The Association is
best known for its lead role in the formation of the Southgate
Farmers' Market - which opened thirteen weeks ago on the Southgate
Mall Parking Lot.
The decision by the Association to join the Coalition
makes the organization the sixteenth organizational member of
the Coalition.
The Association also recently announced that a full
brunch would be served to patrons of the Farmers' Market on Saturday,
September 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. A continental version of
the Brunch will be offered for $3 and a full Brunch will be offered
for $5. A dozen vendors will also be present on that day - selling
a range of products, from organic beef to fresh, chemical-free
fruits and vegetables.
Tom Linzey, coordinator of the Franklin County Coalition,
declared that it is "exciting to see such active organizations
joining the Coalition. We hope that the Association gets a large
turnout for their Brunch, and that the Market continues to prosper.
We also applaud the Association's quest to build several more
Farmers' Markets across Franklin County and the Franklin County
Coalition will assist with those efforts."
The Southgate Farmers' Market - the first Market
hosted by the Association - has added a vendor each week of operation.
The Market continues to be a producer-only market which emphasizes
chemical-free and organically produced meats, fruits, and vegetables.

Coalition's webpage at www.celdf.org or call the Coalition at
