FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shippensburg (October 14) - The Franklin County Coalition (FCC)
announced today that its' 2000 Franklin County Voter Guide is
now available through the internet. The Coalition's Voter Guide
is accessible by visiting http://www.celdf.org/fcc.
The Franklin County Coalition's 2000 Voter Guide
asked several questions of candidates running for President, Attorney
General, Auditor General, State Treasurer, State Senate, and State
Representative across Franklin County. The Candidate Questionnaire,
which was distributed to all candidates in late August, asked
questions concerning corporate animal factories, use of recycled
paper products for government offices, preservation of forest
and farmland across the County, and about the importance of historic
preservation.
The Franklin County Coalition (FCC) is currently
distributing the Voter Guides through the Coalition's seventeen
organizational members and through its thirty locally owned business
endorsers. An initial printing of 10,000 Voter Guides was completed
at the beginning of October, and the Coalition expects to print
an additional 30,000 Guides for distribution.
The Coalition will be staffing almost all of the
seventy-five (75) polling places across Franklin County. Anyone
interested in volunteering to distribute Voter Guides on Election
Day should contact the Coalition at 530-0764.
Thomas Linzey, coordinator of the Coalition, explained
that "through distribution at the polling places, through
the membership of our organizational nonprofit members, through
our individual members, and through our businesses, we're attempting
to reach all Franklin County voters this year with the Guide.
We believe that it is an important tool for discerning candidate
positions on issues important to Franklin Countians."
Individual copies of the Voter Guide are being mailed
on request to Franklin County voters. To request a copy of the
Voter Guide, contact the Coalition at 530-0764.
