Miskomin Raspberries

Miskomin
RASPBERRIES

Grown on our fifty-eight acre farm.  NATIVE HARVEST raspberry preserves are bursting with true raspberry flavor.  No preservatives of any kind are used in our products.  These berries are picked by Anishinaabe tribal members, go through a cleaning and sorting process, then are processed as preserves with a honey base.  This whole process is done by hand to ensure the very best flavor and quality.

NATIVE HARVEST raspberries (Miskomin) are naturally grown and cared for on the White Earth Indian Reservation.  Our project strives to recover land within our reservation borders, since 90% is held by non-Indians.  Miskomin Citigang (our raspberry farm) is one of our projects to strengthen our culture, economy and way of life.

Miskominag (berries) are an important part of our cultural traditions.  They are a source of much pride to local families who pick, can, freeze and dry berries for feasts and enjoyment all winter.  Our NATIVE HARVEST raspberry patch is a site of meetings, work and much laughter, as we celebrate the berries and the gifts we can offer to you.

RICHARD LAGARDE
When we were kids we all chipped in and helped our mother with literally surviving.  We gardened, picked berries, riced and hunted and fished.  We used to parch our own rice the old way in the woods.  It seems as though we were always working in the garden, hoeing and weeding.
