FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chambersburg (August 15) - The South Central Farmers Market Association
announced today that Ms. Janet Riley, local cooking expert and
newspaper columnist, will conduct a cooking demonstration at Chambersburg's
Southgate Farmers Market on Saturday, August 19th.
Ms. Riley, author of the popular "What's Cookin'"
column that appears each Thursday in the Chambersburg Public Opinion,
will demonstrate the preparation of summer pasta dishes as described
in her newspaper column which appeared August 10th. Her presentation
will begin at 10:00 a.m.; and she will be on hand to talk with
shoppers until 12 noon.
The Southgate Farmers Market, currently in its first year of
operation, is held each Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to Noon on
the parking lot of Southgate Shopping Center - at the corner of
West Washington Street and Cedar Avenue in Chambersburg. The market
brings a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables - many grown
without the use of chemicals - to local residents.
As featured recently in the Chambersburg Public Opinion, the
Southgate Farmers Market has blossomed from a handful of vendors
to a full-scale operating market. Recently, the Market added sales
of organic beef to its product line; and the Market features two
vendors selling finished products: including breakfast and coffee,
and a specialty seasoned chicken.
The public is invited to share in this free presentation of
August 19th.
